They say you can’t have favorites but Susan & Joe’s Charter Oak Country Club wedding may be my favorite wedding of all time! I knew last spring when I met up with S&J at a Starbucks one weekend outside the city that this would be the wedding I’d be counting down the days for. They didn’t even have a venue or date yet but Susan knew she had to book me as her wedding photographer.
Susan & Joe envisioned an elegant boho garden vibe for their wedding with lots of geometric shapes incorporated into their details. This sweet couple met in organic chemistry class and the hexagon shape was a nod to where their love story started. The one thing that wasn’t included in their wedding day vision… rain. However, the never-ending rain buckets didn’t seem to phase these two. Both S&J greeted me with the warmest hug that afternoon and they were both so excited to officially be married. They say rain on your wedding day is a sign of good luck. Well, I could count on all my toes and fingers how many signs of good luck we found that day, including a lady bug right before Susan & Joe’s first look.
A few of my favorite moments from their day were when Susan changed into a traditional Vietnamese dress for her father daughter dance. We were even able to do a few portraits outside of the two of them once the rain subsided. Joe’s mom made homemade Italian cookies for their favors, the dance floor was packed the entire night thanks to Unique Sounds and they ended the night with a sparkler exit.
Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Skrzek! Your wedding felt like a dream. Can we do this again every year?!
