Top 5 Items to Have Ready for Your Wedding Photographer the Morning of Your Big Day

April 5, 2018

One of the most popular questions I get asked prior to a wedding is, “what items should I have ready for you that morning?”. To guarantee that you have the most beautiful getting ready and detail photos, I compiled a list of the top 5 items to have ready for your wedding photographer the morning of your big day.

1. Invitations & Other Paper Goods

Being a huge stationery lover, it’s no surprise that I listed invitations and paper goods at the top of this list. Prior to your big day, your invitations help set the tone of your wedding for all of your guests. These details also help tell your story within the wedding album. Whether you have a particular theme or color scheme, odds are this cohesive look and feel is incorporated from start to finish. Make sure to package your entire invitation suite, vow books, ceremony programs and any other special paper good items for your wedding photographer to capture while you are getting ready!

2. Your Wedding Dress or Suit Jacket

Your wedding attire is obviously something you’ll already have with you while you’re getting ready, but make sure it’s easily accessible for your photographer. Whether you’re getting ready in a spacious hotel room with lots of beautiful window light or at a venue with tons of character, your photographer will want to capture the details of your wedding attire within it’s charming surroundings. Other items you can include are your veil, tie or pocket square.

3. All the Florals

If you’re incorporating florals within your wedding day, make sure to have those on hand as well. Both your bouquet and boutineer are picture perfect on their own but they also make for great additions while photographing other elements and details of your wedding too. I personally love to incorporate loose clippings and greenery while styling the invitation suite as well as your other special items.

4. Engagement Ring & Wedding Bands

A good rule of thumb is to have the bride hold on to her engagement ring and both wedding bands throughout the morning. This will ensure that your photographer can capture all of the rings, either on their own or together, throughout the getting ready process. Otherwise, the opportunity to capture these details becomes limited. Especially, once you start dancing the night away during your reception!

5. Special Details & Other Accessories

Don’t forget to set aside any other special details or accessories you want photographed. This includes shoes, jewelry, cuff-links, a watch, perfume, ring boxes, and even special mementos of loved ones who are no longer able to celebrate with you. All of these items were chosen and incorporated into your wedding for a reason. If you gather these pieces beforehand, it guarantees that nothing gets overlooked or forgotten about when your wedding photographer starts to capture your details.
